Central Section Scholarships for AICP Exam
The Central Section of APA California Chapter is providing scholarships of $300 towards the AICP exam fee for those who apply and take the exam. The next AICP exam is in November, 2011. The testing window is [dates not yet announced]. Applications will be accepted beginning around June 1, and close in mid-July, 2011 [When dates are published, they will be listed here]. The AICP exam is given during two windows of 14 days each in May and November. Applications can only be submitted for the upcoming exam window. All applicants must complete and submit the online application and exam fee by the deadline posted at www.planning.org/certification. By APA policy, the application fee ($60) and exam fee ($425) are paid together when submitting the online form. Payment must be made online with a credit card. . APA will review the application to determine if applicants are eligible for AICP membership. Normal processing time is approximately 8-10 weeks. All applicants will be notified of application approval or denial. If you receive notice that your application has been accepted to take the exam, you may be eligible for a Central Section AICP scholarship. .
The scholarships will be awarded as follows:
- Central Section Scholarship amount is $300.
- Scholarships are limited to five per calendar year.
- Application for scholarship shall consist of a letter addressed to the Section PDO (see contact information below) with a copy of the notification letter of acceptance to take the AICP exam.
- Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to one application per lifetime.
- Applicants must be current members of the American Planning Association and California Chapter and on the Central Section membership role.
- Scholarships will consist of a check made payable directly to the applicant following verification of completion of the exam.
- Application lifespan = scholarship lifespan. An applicant that does not sit for the exam within the application lifespan will not be eligible for the scholarship.
- The Central Section PDO retains the right to interpret these requirements as necessary. PDO actions can be appealed to the Central Section Board, whose determination of any appeal is final.
